Class Description:
We're thrilled to introduce Textiles Lab, a new monthly youth workshop series celebrating the world of fiber arts & screen printing. Each session features a different project, giving young artists the opportunity to explore techniques like weaving, sewing, embroidery, dyeing, felting, and screen printing while building their creative confidence. Whether they're brand new to textiles or already love to craft, every month offers something fresh to discover.

First up, Painting with Wool: Needle Felting! In this workshop, we’ll learn the basics of felting needle safety, and how to lay and layer wool to create a dynamic “wool painting.” Participants are welcome to bring a tote bag or old shirt so their finished piece can be sewn on to it like a beautiful patch!

Drop-offs welcome, though caregivers are always invited to register for a spot themselves!

Fall Kill is taking a field trip!

Join us for a special Raku firing workshop at The Newburgh Pottery with owner David Moldover! Raku is a fast-paced, atmospheric firing process that creates dramatic and unpredictable surface effects. These firings are highly interactive ceramic events that bring artists together around fire, experimentation, and surprise, making for an exciting learning experience.

The Newburgh Pottery has generously offered our members and students (past or present!) a 10% discount on the workshop, and Fall Kill is matching that discount with a 10% contribution toward each student’s registration.

“Raku Workshop - Ages 18 and up

In this Full Day Atmospheric Firing Workshop, we'll explore the art of firing low and fast!

We'll cover 4 vastly different techniques that have originated in different times and places around the world:
Glazed Reduction - or - “Western Raku”
“Naked Raku”
Horse Hair
Obvara

Participants will bring their bisque-fired pots, and we will glaze/prep pieces day of - Glazes and all other materials provided.

Workshop Is a flat rate - You can bring as many bisque fired pieces as You like, and we'll get through as many as we can. You can try all the different firings, or stick to ones you prefer!

Participants can be as involved with the firing process as they wish - or - You can prep your pots, sit back, hang out, and have us fire for you.

You'll leave at the end of the day with finished work, and a strong understanding of how these firing techniques work.

Participants must wear Close Toed Shoes and 100% Cotton/natural fiber clothing - No Synthetic Fibers

No refunds - Ages 18+

Some of these firings work better with burnished pieces. Please feel free to contact the studio if you'd like instruction on this process.”

In this intermediate course, students will focus on throwing large platters and creating two-part cake stands while developing skills in scale, proportion, trimming, and assembling.

This welcoming class brings together returning students, studio members, and new faces from across our community. Whether you're continuing your wheel throwing journey or joining us for the first time, you'll find an encouraging environment that values thoughtful craftsmanship, shared learning, and plenty of laughter. Previous wheel throwing experience is required - but don’t worry, we will meet you where you are at!

Each session features a new handbuilding project designed for caregivers and children to create side by side while exploring clay through building, decorating, and glazing. Whether you're shaping whimsical creatures, functional pottery, or seasonal keepsakes, you'll enjoy a relaxed and welcoming studio experience that celebrates creativity, curiosity, and time spent together.

No prior clay experience is needed - just bring your imagination and a willingness to get your hands dirty!

Please note that this is not a drop-off class, and caregivers should plan to stay and work together with their child(ren) throughout the workshop.
