Bowls may be one of the first forms we learn on the pottery wheel, but they're also one of the most rewarding to refine. In this energetic class, students will explore all sorts of bowls including cereal, ramen, pasta, and serving bowls, along with matching and nesting sets.

Designed for all experience levels, demonstrations build from foundational techniques to more advanced approaches, allowing beginners to establish strong skills while experienced throwers continue to refine their forms, consistency, and craftsmanship.

Classes take place at the historic Glebe House, one of the oldest buildings in Poughkeepsie. where our printmaking studio is home to antique presses and heritage textile equipment. It's a unique setting to slow down, make by hand, and learn a time-honored craft.

Class Description:
We are so excited to launch this new program with multi-media artist & instructor Alexis Babian! This 8-week, all levels class explores the intersection of printmaking and ceramics, offering a deep dive into techniques for transferring image, pattern, and narrative onto clay. Designed for both potters and printmakers, this course will build fluency across materials

Explore ways to create your own unique imagery while learning multiple methods for making repeatable, layered surface design. The class will be anchored around creating silk screens to print your own underglaze transfers, but many other techniques will come up along the way!

One week we will take a field trip over to our textiles studio, Glebe House, where we will use the exposure unit to create our own screens! Please note, Glebe House is a historic home and is not handicap accessible. Reach out if this may be an issue for you and we will be happy to discuss accommodations and make a plan together.

From piecing and layering to quilting and binding, you'll gain a complete introduction to quilt construction in a fun, approachable format.
By the end of class, you'll leave with a finished project and the skills to confidently begin larger quilting projects on your own.

Students should already know how to thread and operate a sewing machine.

Class Description:
Learn the traditional craft of thrummed mitten knitting and make what just might be the warmest mittens you'll ever own! Thrumming is a technique with roots in Newfoundland and Maine, where small tufts of wool roving are knit into each stitch to create a soft, fleece-lined interior that provides incredible warmth while adding beautiful texture and pattern to the outside.
In this workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of thrumming while knitting a classic pair of mittens. Annie will guide you through reading the pattern, working with double-pointed needles, and incorporating roving into your knitting to create a finished pair that's as practical as it is beautiful.
Held at the historic Glebe House, this workshop is a chance to learn a time-honored fiber art in a uniqe and relaxed setting.

Class Description:
Turn a cherished quilt into a one-of-a-kind jacket you'll wear for years to come. In this multi-week workshop, you'll transform a vintage or well-loved quilt into a cozy coat while learning garment construction techniques specific to working with quilted textiles. We'll discuss pattern selection, layout, cutting, construction, and finishing details, along with creative ways to work around worn areas, stains, or tears so older quilts can find new life.
Whether you're preserving a family heirloom or rescuing a thrifted treasure, you'll leave with a wearable piece that's both practical and deeply personal.

Materials Needed:
One pre-made quilt (twin size or larger recommended)
A quilt coat pattern, such as Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studio or Patchwork Chore Coat by Patches and Poodles
Buttons or snaps if your chosen pattern requires them
Thread and bias binding will be available in class, though students are welcome to bring their own notions if preferred.

Class Description:
We're thrilled to introduce Textiles Lab, a new monthly youth workshop series celebrating the world of fiber arts & screen printing. Each session features a different project, giving young artists the opportunity to explore techniques like weaving, sewing, embroidery, dyeing, felting, and screen printing while building their creative confidence. Whether they're brand new to textiles or already love to craft, every month offers something fresh to discover.

First up, Painting with Wool: Needle Felting! In this workshop, we’ll learn the basics of felting needle safety, and how to lay and layer wool to create a dynamic “wool painting.” Participants are welcome to bring a tote bag or old shirt so their finished piece can be sewn on to it like a beautiful patch!

Drop-offs welcome, though caregivers are always invited to register for a spot themselves!
