How Your Support Helps Fall Kill Creative Works
Fall Kill Creative Works offers tuition assistance to those who wish to participate in our classes and workshops but have financial circumstances that prohibit them from paying the full tuition. With your support, we can grow the number of people our tuition assistance program helps.
In 2020, Fall Kill Creative Works partnered with the Poughkeepsie Farm Project to host 10 socially distanced, outdoor workshops throughout the summer months, with an average of 10 students at each and 16 in attendance at our Tie-Dyed Socks and Ceramic Botanical Trays workshops. There is no additional cost to the students for supplies, PPE, or firing fees. With your support, Fall Kill Creative Works will continue to offer FREE workshops to the City of Poughkeepsie Youth, ages 11-18, year-round.
Printmaking has been an integral part of Fall Kill Creative Works for years and we love the community forming around it. One of our most popular classes is Screen Printing. In order to continue offering these classes, we need a new Exposure Unit. Print Works focuses on teaching students all facets of screen printing from designing, creating and caring for screens, to inking and printing their design. With your support we will continue to educate and create beautiful work.
Making can get messy! Fall Kill Creative Works has moved its Printmaking studio and is in need of a new Washout Booth. High powered sprayers are needed to properly clean off inked up screens. Now, imagine using a power sprayer in your bathroom sink. Yikes! With your support we will keep our studio space tidy and our screens clean.
In 2019 Fall Kill Creative Works expanded and opened a Textile Studio now housed at the Historic Glebe House on Main Street. Our goal going into 2021 is to offer weaving workshops with individual Table Top Looms. This will allow students the opportunity to work on their own equipment for the duration of the class as well as during open studio hours. We need 6 looms to host a full class. With your support we will make this dream come true!
Fall Kill Creative Works is in need of 10 new pottery wheels. We offer a variety of on and off the wheel classes and Studio Assistant opportunities at Clay Works. Our 2000 sq. foot space allows students to spread out and feel safe while taking classes and working on their own during open studio hours. We’ve recently installed HEPA quality filters and a disinfecting UV light in the ductwork for heat and AC as additional steps towards offering the healthiest working environment we can. With your support, we will begin replacing old and broken equipment in the ceramics studio and continue our programming with ease.
Hands-on craft education is empowering and can be life-changing for some. With your support, Fall Kill Creative Works will continue to have a dramatic impact on Poughkeepsie and the people in our region.
Annual Sponsorship Opportunities
Letter from our Interim Executive Director
2020 has been a year of significant challenge and change. I am incredibly proud of how our creative community has risen to the occasion and adapted to meet these circumstances. Fall Kill Creative Works closed its physical doors on March 13th, but immediately shifted gears to think of creative ways to allow our community to stay connected and feel supported. Our weekly Remote Open Studio program was launched the following Friday afternoon, and it continues to run today. We’ve welcomed over 375 visitors to our remote programming, and it’s enabled us to both continue to inspire makers and employ teaching artists during this time of oppressive uncertainty.
Hands-on craft education is empowering for the people of Poughkeepsie and our surrounding communities. We hope you’ll consider supporting us this year though a sponsorship or donation.
